Meet Aliesha - the amazing Mama behind ETC Clothing! Go and check out her page for some cool mama threads x
Could you tell me a little bit about yourself:
My name is Aliesha Sherwin, I am a married and a mother of 3, 9,7 & 5 all school age kidlets. I own ETC Clothing and love a good time:) - I started ETC 4 & a half years ago when my youngest was 6 months old and haven’t looked back (well maybe a few times when I was asking myself why am I up at 2am in the morning working still!)
I live in the Waikato, and my kids go to a gorgeous country school. I love Netflix lol and I love running & exercise although lately I’ve been so busy actually running etc iv hardly fit any in! Love being with my family & love designing! That’s about me:)
Age when you had your first baby:
Pregnant at 21 and birth 22 :) What was your reaction when you found out you were pregnant?
Being that little bit younger we were a bit scared, Id just landed my first job out of university at a Media Agency, so was a bit of a challenge letting them know! What has been your biggest challenge with running a business and being a mama at the same time?
Mum guilt. The balance between spending that quality time with your children, yet also making sure their future is the best you can possibly provide! How do you balance Home and work life? (any tips/tricks to share?) I got a cleaner. The one thing I need for my sanity is a clean home, so every week she comes in like a magical fairy and works her magic!
Best piece of advice you were given about parenting:
Dont stress the small stuff. What would you do if you weren’t doing your current job/running your business?
If I wasn't running ETC I would be working back in the media industry, but I would have wanted to branch out by now so would still be working for myself, just in a different industry! Have you met any challenges being a mama in your 20s?
Many! I had 3 kids under 4. Life was crazy. What has been your biggest challenge in your 20s (non-parenting related)?
Getting tough and growing bigger shoulders to cope with the retail & fashion industry. Learning to not care about peoples negative opinions. Being bigger than that.
Don't get me wrong, some days are better than others! If you could give one piece of advice to twenty-something’s pre kids what would it be?
Always be you, not who someone else wants you to be & when you have your kids stick to that, a mums gut instinct is always right.
